ROBAT is an indie rock band in Minneapolis, with influences ranging from 12Rods to American Football, from Sea & Cake to Real Estate. The Words” & “Terminal” were released in 2014. Recording for their first LP began in a warehouse in the summer of ’15. Over the next year and a half they completed the album in bedrooms and basements. Delicious math rock featuring artful and catchy melodic writing, underpinned by intensely complex instrumental work. The emo influence in TTNG's past works has been toned down in favor of delicate pop songwriting, and, oh boy, it does it for me.

The real Speed of Sound in Seawater is fast... relatively. This album is the same in that it goes by too fast and you are already putting it on repeat again. :p

Certainly a controversial direction for the band, but this album ultimately rests as my favorite from TTNG. The technical mastery of their previous albums is still present here along with some very thought provoking and philosophical lyrics. I may not always agree with the lyrical messaging, but this is an album which rewards careful listening.
